we live in a flat world…

a couple of days ago, i got a pretty cool widget from clustrmaps.com that shows where the people who have viewed your blog live. i saw there were some people from china, from the philippines, from germany, from canada, and from various states in america. pretty cool that people from all around the world are able to participate in a discussion of whatever.

its awesome that through the internet we have such vast resources at our fingertips. we can talk with people from all nations and tribes and tongues and peoples. this is globalization. it reminds me (as i am reading a book called the world is flat, which is about globalization in the 21st century) that we are in for some drastic changes all around the world as we continue to increasingly impact people from various cultures and they impact us.

through the internet, i was able to find out about a chinese house church leader who has been tortured and imprisoned, etc, and i was able to talk with people who had actually met him and talked with witnesses of his testimony. pretty cool right?

now it doesnt take an expert to find out anything about anything. just google it or go to wikipedia. with all of this instantaneous transfer of information what are we to expect for the future? how will we be doing things (around the world) in the time to come? i think friedman, the author of the book i am reading, is right. the world is becoming flat.

may we be good stewards of His ingenuity. may we be wise with our resources as we enter a new era.
may the name of the LORD be lifted up around the world,
peter

  1. That is true that the world is getting smaller in so many ways. The term ‘globalization’ makes me a tad nervous however. But more than ever, the expression “no man is an island” is appropriate for the times we live in.

i am not sure what makes you uneasy about the term, but i agree that isolationism isnt an option in our world.

may His shalom spread around the world
