i just read this on another blog. i wanted to share it with anyone who reads my blog as well, because i was truly convicted and reached by this prayer. i am such a selfish person. i complain about being mistreated rather than trying to love the other person. i want others to understand me without trying to understand them. i want people to listen to me, while i dont listen to them. what a hypocrit i am:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace — where there is hatred, let me sow love — where there is injury, let me sow pardon — where there is doubt, let me sow faith — where there is despair, let me sow hope — where there is darkness, let me sow light and where there is sadness, let me sow joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console — to be understood as to understand — to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in dying that we are born to eternal life. —Francis of Assisi
LORD change my heart. Speak Your love into my life. take out the wretched selfishness that consumes my being. make me Your servant, humble and selfless. help me to love others the way that i too desire their love. help me to be satisfied in Your love, complete and no longer yearning for a false and fleeting love. fill me up with You. make my heart overflow with Your love, so that all people might feel Your love, not my selfishness. – peter
